Apple just launched a clever way to protect your iPhone from thieves

If you’re concerned about someone taking your iPhone that locks you out, and deleting your data, you may want to upgrade your device. This is since Apple’s most recent iOS 17.3 beta comes with an innovative technology for security that will keep out even the most clever thieves.

According to The Wall Street Journal the beta has the latest feature known as Stolen Device Protection. This feature can be used as a final protection in the event that your iPhone was taken and the culprit obtained access to your password. You can activate it, and stop the plans of their attackers for good.

Without this new feature the only thing a criminal needs is your password. They will then be able to access your iPhone to modify you Apple ID password to stop you from wiping the device remotely switch off Find My and then look through your passwords saved for your credit cards, accounts and many more.

This is an enormous amount of access and all they need to do is look over your passcode on your shoulder before taking your phone. After they’ve modified you Apple ID password, they’ll be able to access your account from distance.

When you use Stolen Protecting Devices, things operate differently. When it’s activated the protection will perform certain essential actions such as viewing passwords, removing Lost Mode, erasing content and much more requires the use of Face ID or Touch ID instead of an access code. The use fingerprint authentication will make it safer for thieves to gain access to these crucial areas of your smartphone, thereby to prevent a devastating disruption of your digital security.

The new feature goes beyond it. If someone tries to perform extremely sensitive tasks, such as making changes to the Apple ID password or altering the passcode on your phone They’ll have to sign in by using Face ID or Touch ID and wait for one hour then make use of Face ID or Touch ID again.

It’s not the case when your phone is located at a place you know like workplace or at home. Thus, although thieves may attempt to damage the device in any location they can get it however, you’ll be able change these settings yourself so in the event that you’re not unknown. Even if you’re in a place that isn’t, you’ll have to wait a bit longer than you did before. This is worth it for greater security.

Stolen device protection is an option to opt-in that you can turn it on by going to the Settings menu > Face ID and Passcode > Stolen Device Security provided you’re running iOS 17.3 Beta. It’s worth it to enable for your peace of mind as you never know when you’ll require it.
